The warranty on the work covers the cost of any labor in replacing, repairing, or fixing what might have been deemed as defective or ineffective craftsmanship. The warranty from our providers covers the materials we use meaning they will in most every case replace any portion of the product that was found to be defective or below craftsmanship standards with an equal or greater product free of charge. Additionally, our warranties can be printed off our web site.

Painting Plus, Inc. has partnered with James Hardie® for its siding repair and replacement. We always recommend James Hardie® when it comes to fiber cement siding products. We also install cedar siding, stone and brick.
Fiber cement siding is a durable, attractive alternative to traditional wood composite, cedar, vinyl, brick or stucco sidings. Combining the look and warmth of natural wood with the durability of fiber-cement HardiPlank® resists damage from exposure to humidity, rain, snow and termites. It is dimensionally stable and under normal conditions will not crack, rot or delaminates. Fiber cement siding offers a lifetime of low-maintenance. Atlanta Residential Painting Contractor, Alpharetta Roofer
Re-siding costs vary project to project. Typically, fiber cement siding is:
- Less expensive than brick.
- Equal or less expensive than vinyl.
- Equal or less expensive than hardboard siding.
- Less expensive than synthetic stucco.
Each homeowner’s association has a different set of restrictive covenants, but all of our clients have received approval for HardiePlank® installation. If your home currently has siding on it, chances are excellent that HardiePlank® will be accepted. Painting Plus communicates with the homeowners’ association on behalf of each of our clients to coordinate the approval process.
Yes. HardiePlank® is sealed to keep out moisture. The coating has mildicide in it to protect against mold growth. If dirt is splattered against the coating and mold grows on the dirt, the coating cleans easily with water from a garden hose.
For one out of ten homes we have installed on top of the existing siding, if the siding is in good condition and the surface is flat. We always remove old existing siding that is not flat or has rot. We prefer to remove all old siding.
No one has control over the weather. So it’s best to chose siding that resists severe climates and damage from precipitation, like James Hardie® Fiber Cement Siding. James Hardie® Siding is warranted not to rot, warp or delaminate. In addition, James Hardie® Siding is five times thicker than vinyl siding so it’s warranted against hail damage and can be installed to withstand winds up to 150 MPH. Atlanta James Hardie Preferred Remodeler, Roswell Roofer, Atlanta Custom Carpentry
HardiePlank® lap siding has a 30-year limited warranty from the manufacturer, and the ColorPlus® Technology finish comes with a 15-year warranty that covers both paint and labor. Painting Plus guarantees labor for 10 to 30 years on the siding and 5 years on the paint coating.
Absolutely not. HardiePlank® weighs 2.3 lbs per square foot. That is about the same weight as 5/8″ thick sheet rock. HardiePlank® is installed on load-bearing walls. It has been installed on over 5.5 million homes and the weight of the product has never been an issue.
HardiePlank® lap siding provides a superior solution to your siding problems and gives your home the look and feel of real wood. It is preferable to replace the windows when you replace the siding, but window replacement can be performed later, if desired.
Painting Plus has no minimum for HardiePlank® replacement siding projects; unlike other companies we do partial small siding jobs.
If the soffits are in good condition, we can paint them to match the new siding or existing trim. If repairs are necessary, we can create new soffits from HardieSoffit® or replace only the bad section with wood.
In the Atlanta area, most of our clients own homes built in the 1970s and 1980s. Defective siding was installed on thousands of homes in metro Atlanta. HardiePlank® performs best when used to replace existing wood siding or Masonite. It is not uncommon to replace stucco with new siding. Termites and other wood-eating insects will not be able to penetrate HardiPlank®. The product is also resistant to damage from hail, freezing temperatures, rain, and humidity.
Some insurers allow a fire insurance discount. You should discuss this with your own insurance agent.

Because we offer siding at a number of price points to fit any need and any budget, and because every home and siding job is unique, there is no way to answer this question. Is there a brand of paint that matches ColorPlus® Technology available siding colors? Yes we can match all color plus pre painted siding colors?
Yes the paint used is Glidden and can be matched. With today’s paint technology, the best way to match paint is to take a sample or chip of your siding to your local paint store. Most stores have electronic color matching capabilities.
No, You can have your siding installed in any season, as your schedule and budget allow. Regardless of when you have your new siding installed, you’ll enjoy the immediate benefits of improved appearance, as well as the long-term benefits of durability and easy maintenance.
Painting Plus is an official James Hardie® Preferred Remodeler. This is an exclusive, “by invitation only,” program sponsored by James Hardie® Building Products to help homeowners choose a qualified contractor to install their HardiePlank® siding. There are less than 50 contractors in Georgia who have been officially awarded a position in this highly coveted program.
Choosing a James Hardie® Preferred Remodeler gives you an extra layer of protection and peace of mind because you know:
• Painting Plus’ installers have been fully trained.
• Painting Plus projects are regularly reviewed by a Hardie expert.
• Painting Plus works in strong partnership with James Hardie® to ensure their siding products are always installed correctly and in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines.
You may contact James Hardie’s® customer service specialist at 877-336-2339. Ask for a remodeler that specializes in the Atlanta and Georgia marketplaces. If you provide them with a company name, they can verify if the company is an active, official member of the James Hardie® Preferred Remodeler Program.
Painting Plus begins every project by covering and protecting items not involved in the renovation (such as decks, AC units, and flower beds). Next we prepare your home to be resided by removing and disposing of the old siding; replacing any damaged/rotted plywood sheathing; and installing a vapor barrier (such as Owens Pink Wrap or Tyvek).
After the prep work is done, we pressure wash, caulk, and prep and paint your new James Hardie® Siding Product (except when using HardiePlank® siding with ColorPlus® Technology which does not require painting). We re-install lighting fixtures and add PVC mounts to all exteriors fixtures that come in contact with the new siding. Finally, we clean up any debris and leave your home picture perfect.
It generally takes 5-7 days to complete a project depending on the size of your home, scope of your exterior remodel and weather conditions.
When renovating the outside of your home, you should think about more than just siding. You’ll need to look at window and door trim, columns, soffit and fascia areas, gutters or anything else on the outside of your home.
Painting Plus is a full-service replacement contractor. We have trained crews for each of the cornerstones of our business: siding, windows, entry doors, gutter and roofing.
When installed correctly, James Hardie® HardiePlank® has a 30-year product warranty that is transferable to new owners should you sell your home.
James Hardie® Siding Products make sense – they provide low maintenance, without sacrificing the beauty of wood.
Our estimates always include painting for standard pre primed HardiePlank® siding (which comes pre-primed from the factory). In our experience, a quality paint job on primed HardiePlank® siding lasts 9-12 years in Georgia. Beware of anyone who says a paint job will last a lifetime. It is unrealistic to promise that a single, exterior paint job will last a lifetime in Georgia’s climate; regardless of how good the paint or painter may be. GBG- Grill between the glass this is a window were the grid is in between the two pains of glass

Homeowners who want low-maintenance with their homes appreciate the minimal upkeep needed for vinyl products.
Traditional wood windows are pre-primed but do require painting.
Low E Glass has a slight green tint. In summer months, Low E glass keeps cool air inside while keeping hot air outside, and in winter, Low E keeps warm air in and cold air out. It also blocks up to 84% of the ultraviolet rays.
Some windows have the insulating glass unit is filled with Argon gas adding even more thermal efficiency. The Us Government recognizes the energy efficiency giving a tax credit. Filling the space with a less conductive, more viscous, or slow-moving gas minimizes the convection currents within the space, conduction through the gas is reduced, and the overall transfer of heat between the inside and outside is reduced.
The windows installation process involves: removal of your existing windows; the installation of your new Windows; the installation of any trim. Depending on the number and size of your windows, it generally takes approximately 1-2 days to install new windows on a 3000 sq ft. home.
Once again we do not try to push or sell any one product or company. Numerous manufactures offer complete lines of quality steel, fiberglass and wood entry doors. All vendors offer a wide variety of features as well as several hardware and glass options. One of our knowledgeable sales representatives will take you to visit a window and door show room.
Steel entry doors offer heavy gauge steel panels with a high definition embossing that replicates the look of wood. 20-Gauge Smooth Steel, 20-Gauge Textured Steel, 22-Gauge Stainable Steel, 24-Gauge Smooth Steel. These doors are usually more cost effective Optional fire ratings are also available.
Fiberglass entry doors feature high-pressure molded panels. They come in smooth or textured to create the appearance of traditional wood. Fiberglass doors are low-maintenance, dent-resistant and can be stained in a variety of colors.
Wood doors are going to require more maintenance, but nothing looks like real wood. Prices on wood doors can range dramatically.
During your estimate, we can inspect your gutters and report any damage we find. If minor repairs are required, we usually can take care of it. If you need to have your gutters completely replaced, we will include a line-item cost on your estimate.
Gutters and downspouts prevent water that falls on the roof from dripping down the sides of the house and collecting near the foundation. Gutters and gutter covers protect your home. Your gutters are part of your home’s rainwater management system. They help prevent a number of problems such as mold development, structural damage to your deck, foundation or landscape.
This varies, depending on the environment. Generally, it’s a good idea to have gutters checked and cleaned once a year. In houses surrounded by trees, it may be necessary to clean out gutters twice a year. Painting Plus offers a full service gutter cleaning.
Painting Plus can install a gutter cover/cap system to block out falling debris or objects. We offer a good, better, and best option. Painting plus replaces and repairs gutters and downspouts. Additionally, we can install gutter cover systems to eliminate your annual gutter cleaning.
Gutter covers work on the scientific principle of water adhesion or centrifugal force. The design allows water to enter the gutter while keeping leaves and debris out. They can be custom-fit to any home and adjusted to any roof pitch.
Our Good: Hallett Gutter covers®
Our Better: LeaFree®
Our Best: Tru Guard®
The #1 reason is so you don’t have to clean your gutters as often so you can avoid the messy work of gutter cleaning. They also stop mosquitoes from breeding in your gutters. The water that sits in your gutters as a result of debris build-up is an ideal place for disease carrying mosquitoes to breed.
Painting Plus only installs seamless gutters. Seamless gutters won’t leak at seams because there are none; sections join only at inside and outside corners and at downspout outlets. That’s why they’re the most popular configuration. Seamless gutters, made of aluminum, galvanized steel or copper are extruded to custom lengths on site using a portable machine.
Painting Plus fabricates seamless gutters in five, six, and seven inch K style seamless gutters which are made of aluminum, galvanized steel or copper.
During your estimate, a Painting plus represenitive can visually inspect your roof and report any damage we find. If minor repairs are required, we usually can take care of it. If you need to have your roof completely replaced, we will give you a detailed written estimate. Our representative will gladly take pictures of your roof if asked.
The signs of roof failure are damaged flashing, curled shingles, buckled shingles, missing shingles, algae growth, blistering, rotten soffits, and water spots in ceiling. Does the roof leak in numerous locations? Do the leaks continue, despite repeated repair attempts?
Painting Plus recommends both Owens-Corning’s Oakridge PRO 30® AR and GAF-ELK 30 year shingles. We are authorized installers for both manufactures. Both are architecturally stylish but practically priced. The Owens architectural shingle features muted color blends and a subtle single shadow for an understated complement to home exteriors. The GAF-ELK High Definition features GAF-Elk’s patented “High Definition” color blends and enhanced shadow effect.
Depending on the type of shingles you purchase, Painting Plus roofing warranty can last from 5 to 30 years. Your sales rep can explain all the details.
Our sales representatives can come out to your home and help you determine what style of roofing would be best for your home. They can provide samples of the products we offer.
Remove all loose items from walls and shelves. The constant hammering may cause enough vibration to shake these items down. Make sure to clear your driveway and items directly surrounding your home. Also, please see that electrical power is provided to the outside of your home. If exterior plugs are not available, please run an extension cord through a window or door.
Painting Plus does not recommend this practice.
Most building codes allow a structure to have two roof membranes in place, but not a third. The codes are also now requiring all roof layers to be removed once the two-roof limit has been reached. Painting Plus always removes the existing shingle to examine the roof decking.
The optimum time to install a roof is when the temperatures are above freezing and the wind and rain are at the lowest intensity and frequency. This allows the roofer the best conditions for installation, with the fewest interruptions and lowest risk of leaking. Unless you are very fortunate, sometimes you cannot schedule the roofing work during these periods, and you may need to install the roof in cold temperatures or in the rainy season.
Before we can tell you how much your job will cost, we will need to know what it involves. We understand your concerns about budget and keeping costs under control. The best way to estimate a cost is to have a sales representative come to your home and take a look at your roof. We can take pictures at your request.
Unlike standard 3-tab, or strip shingles, which are single layer in design, a growing number of shingles are multi-layered or laminated.
Fiberglass shingles are built on a core, or mat, of fiberglass reinforcement. Asphalt coating is applied directly to this mat and protective granite color granules are embedded into the coating. Fiberglass shingles carry a Class a fire resistance rating from Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the highest rating available.
Since the roof you install is only as good as the contractor who installs it, choosing a qualified roofing contractor is essential to having a healthy roof that lasts a long time.
Since all roofing types and materials need different amounts of maintenance there is no simple answer. Asphalt shingles and wood shakes and shingles need to be maintained by routinely cleaning out gutters and trimming back tree branches. Replacing damaged shingles and keeping moss or algae off of the roof are ways to ensure longevity.
Replacing a roof usually requires a lot of work. The process generally takes a few days. Remember that bad weather can delay installation. If you are repairing rather than replacing your current roof, it may take less time.
Roofing, like any other material, is going to deteriorate with time.
A new roof can last anywhere from 10 to 40 years, although 20 years is the average. You can lengthen the life by keeping up with any maintenance requirements. Most building owners, roofing contractors and designers feel 20 years is an acceptable service life. Roswell Roofer, Atlanta Custom Carpentry, Atlanta Painting Resources, Painter Atlanta
Color and moods? There has been much written on the affects of color on the moods of individuals. Behavioral psychology books may be a good source on this subject.
Here are some general concepts:
Warm Colors (Red, Yellow, and Orange) attract attention, create excitement, promote cheerfulness, and stimulates action.
Cool Colors (Blue, Turquoise, Green, and Purple) relax and refresh, promote peacefulness, encourage and concentration.
Light Colors (off whites, light tones) make areas seem more spacious and tend to give people a psychological lift.
Dark Colors (deep tones) Make areas appear smaller and long exposure can create a feeling of monotony and depression.
Bold Colors: Attracts the eye and creates excitement.
Whites: Reflect more light and denote cleanliness.

Enamel is a broad classification for finishing materials that dry to a smooth, hard finish and usually possess a gloss. In the past this term referred exclusively to oil base products, however, new generation latex products area also at times referred to as enamels. Because of these factors enamel as, a paint term has become somewhat ambiguous. Oil base products are those products that typically are composed of pigments dissolved in a mineral spirit such as paint thinner. While latex products are an emulsion suspended in water. The obvious differences are that oil base product require mineral spirits for clean up, have a longer dry time, and have a stronger odor while drying to a harder finish. Latex products typically will dry faster and are water clean up. Oil base products are used primarily where a harder finish is required. However, today’s improved latex products have allowed for the substitution of latex in nearly all scenarios that had traditionally called for an oil base material. We always try to use environmentally friendly low VOC Latex.
First scrub a small area with a solution of household detergent and warm water. Rinse well and towel-dry it, then soak a cotton ball or soft rag in alcohol and rub it back and forth over the cleaned area. If paint comes off, it’s latex paint and another coat of the same is in order. If the paint doesn’t come off, it’s oil-based, note: small trace amounts of oil based paint have been know to also come off on the rag if rubbed hard. A base coat of primer is a must if you plan to use latex as your finish coat. You have the option for the finish coat since different types of latex or oil-based paint can be used.
Sheen refers to the light reflectivity of the painted or varnished surface. There are varying degrees of paint sheen, from no shine to high gloss. Paint manufacturers may refer to their paint sheens by different names. From lowest to highest, sheens correspond to these reflective degrees: flat finish, eggshell, satin, semi gloss, gloss, and high gloss finish.
Elastomeric waterproof system is normally used on exterior stucco and often when the surface has a lot of hairline cracks. Elastomeric was formulated to be applied in very thick coats or mil thickness. When applied correctly, it has the capacity to span these hairline cracks permanently. Elastomeric is a latex product looks much like any other paint and it can be tinted to most colors.
If your home was built prior to 1978, chances are it has lead paint on it. A lab test can be done or a simple inexpensive tester can be purchased at a local hardware store if you want to make sure.
If your home was built prior to 1978 we assume it is lead paint and take all required actions while working with it. There are procedures set by the federal government on how any work involving lead paint is to be performed. All our painters are trained on all necessary steps to take. For more information on lead paint call 1-800-424-LEAD.
We typically do not recommend painting over wallpaper. However if you choose to, there are many issues to consider. The seams may not lie down properly. Moisture from the paint could cause blistering or peeling. Over a heavy vinyl the paint’s adhesion may be minimal. The texture from the wallpaper may not look very good on a solid wall. Note that the seams may be visible in some areas. Any of these things could cause a problem. For these reasons we always recommend testing the system prior to taking on the whole job.
Keeping in mind the points stated above, the only paper that may be primed is nonporous paper. If removal of the paper is not an option first clean the surface. Then lightly sand the seams to make them as smooth as possible. Test a quick drying alkyd primer like the Sherwin-Williams ProBlock Alkyd HS Primer on the wallpaper. If the primer dries without lifting or blistering, move to the next step of applying a finish coat over the primer. Atlanta Commercial Painting Company, Atlanta Siding Repair

Pressure cleaning of surfaces, new and old, is required to remove dirt, mildew, and peeling paint – anything to which new paint will adhere.
